In this contest analyzing residential property data in Ames, Iowa, it is shown that home price negotiations are influenced by a wide range of factors, far beyond the number of bedrooms or the presence of a white picket fence in the yard, even though buyers rarely mention details such as basement ceiling height or proximity to a railroad track. The challenge is to predict the final price of each home using a dataset that encompasses 79 explanatory variables describing virtually every aspect of these properties.
A dataset of the passengers of the iconic RMS Titanic is provided and an analysis of the data is proposed in search of patterns or triggers of survival rate. It also calls for the development of a predictive model with which to determine survival based on certain patterns.
